Welcome to the Golden Grid Fish Restaurant in Scarborough web site!
Situated overlooking Scarborough's pretty harbour, our spacious restaurant is spread over three floors and has recently been tastefully refurbished incorporating a nautical theme. The upper floors offer unrivalled views across the harbour and beyond to Flamborough Head (reservations are recommended for window tables).
Established over a century ago, half of which in the care of the Senior family, the Grid as it is known to its regulars is now under the personal supervision of John Senior and Chef d'Cuisine Mr Richard Johnson. Richard and his dedicated team have worked hard to build an enviable reputation for serving only the very freshest fish and seafood .Fresh live lobsters are our House Speciality and are usually available at no notice. We pride ourselves on our home cooking and always have a selection of mouth-watering specials and puddings to accompany the carefully chosen and may I say, very reasonably priced and interesting wine-list. We also offer a choice of bottled international beers/lagers, spirits and liqueurs.
The Golden Grid holds an "On Market Fish Licence". This means that our speciality fish and seafood will be selected and bought on a daily basis by our Head Chef directly from The Scarborough and Whitby fish markets. We believe that the ability to buy directly from the boat skippers will guarantee the freshest seafood available. It will also allow us to feature a wider range of speciality fresh fish.
News for 2006/7: Now fully air conditioned, short listed for the Yorkshire Coast Tourism Oscars, highly acclaimed by the Rough Guide, finalist for Period Living and Traditional Homes magazine, Restaurant of the Year!
"GP Taylor's new ripping yarn is tipped to be Hotter than Potter and is set in Victorian Scarborough, one of the central characters is a returning army officer called Captain Jack Charity who also owns the Golden Kipper Fish Restaurant, strange but true?"
Said Major John Senior GHV TD owner of the Golden Grid!
We open for breakfast and serve a full menu throughout the day, particularly popular are the afternoon teas featuring a selection of fresh cream cakes. However when night falls, the restaurant takes on a special character and is transformed to offer diners a unique experience. The combination of candlelight and our breathtaking views over the romantic harbour, prove to be a truly memorable dining experience, popular with locals, promenaders, theatre goers and the Stars alike. In high season evening reservations are recommended.
Over the years the restaurant has received a number of Les Routiers Good Food and Service Awards and is also highly recommended by many leading national & international travel magazines.
Winner of the coveted Les Routiers award 'Cafe of the Year 2003' - Northern Region.

At the Golden Grid we have a buy local policy, sourcing the very freshest of ingredients from local farms, estates and suppliers. Apart from our famous Greenlays sausage, made to the 1873 secret recipe by Tony Gibson of Ramshill, Scarborough, we will often feature specialities such as Wykeham Game casserole, Filey fish stew and Whitby Scampi.
We are happy to cater for all types of private parties at the Golden Grid (up to 150 people) and can offer an ideal venue for coach parties, corporate parties/meetings, civic receptions or lunches. After enjoying your meal why not pop down to our own ice cream parlour, The Harbour Delights, where you can experience spectacular ice cream, rock and waffles!
